Woolia is pleasantly soft and doesn't pill at all. Furthermore, the yarn has 30% more yardage than other yarns of this weight.
This makes a sweater light, even with cable knit patterns or Fair Isle.
The wool feels slightly dry to the touch at first – this is typical for merino wool. This characteristic gives the yarn its exceptional lightness and ensures that knitted pieces retain their shape regardless of needle size. After the first wash, however, it becomes beautifully soft and supple. Another advantage: Woolia is not itchy.
Needle size:
Woolia can be knitted with various needle sizes; this is one of the yarn's characteristic properties. The most common gauge is 16–18 stitches.
Needle size 6 mm: 15 m = 10 cm
Needle size 5.5 mm: 16 m = 10 cm
Needle size 5mm: 17m = 10cm
Needle size 4.5 mm: 18 m = 10 cm
Needle size 4 mm: 19 m = 10 cm
Woolia + Kid Seta can be knitted with 5-6 mm knitting needles.
This yarn is made from a very special wool, from an old, original Italian sheep breed, Merino Gentile Puglia.
Sheep and lambs graze mainly among fruit and olive trees on organic plantations and extensive pastures.
Woolia is spun from the wool of lambs and sheep of the original Italian Merino breed.
This breed lived, and still lives, in a smaller area around Apulia and similar regions. Apulia is the sheep's original habitat, which naturally helps them maintain their health much more easily. This form of sheep farming and grazing is the most sustainable form of wool production. It is environmentally friendly and offers the best living conditions for both the sheep and their breeders.
The farmers sort the wool themselves and sell it directly to our spinning mill. This way, the farmers receive a better price for their wool, and we know the product all the way back to the individual small flocks of sheep.
